DULUTH, MN (KDAL) โ The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is starting bridge repair work on I-35 in Duluth on Tuesday.
The project will resurface decks and replace joints between Mesaba Avenue and 5th Avenue West and also work on the 5th Avenue West on and off ramps.
Traffic will be shifted to a head-to-head pattern through the middle of August with a switch from the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes at some point in June.
Several ramps will also be closing as part of the project and detour signs will be in place for each of the closures. Among the ramp closures is the northbound ramp from I-535 to I-35.
This will start the 2nd phase of a two year project on the Duluth section of I-35.
The MnDOT project will also be coordinating with the City of Duluthโs Northwest Passage pier repairs which is already underway.
Motorists should expect delays especially during peak travel times and should pay attention to changing lane shifts and work zones.
