DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Duluth firefighters were called to a house fire in the 1100 block of East 10th Street early Tuesday morning.
A 15 year old girl is credited with alerting her family to the fire, allowing all 8 occupants to escape the fire safely.
When crews arrived on the scene, heavy fire was showing from a second story window and they were able to extinguish the blaze that had spread to two rooms and the attic of the structure.
Damage was estimated at 75 thousand dollars to the building and another 50 thousand to the contents.
The Red Cross is now assisting the family that was displaced in the fire.
One of the occupants burned his hand when trying to put out the fire before exiting and was taken to a hospital for treatment and released.
The fire is believed to be electrical in nature and is being investigated by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s office.
