HAYWARD, WI (KDAL) – A 45 year old Milwaukee man is in custody following a police pursuit and standoff in Sawyer County on Tuesday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a man in a car pulled up to a group of hikers asking for money and threatening them with a gun. When told they didn’t have any money, the suspect fled toward the City of Hayward.
Hayward Police spotted the suspect’s vehicle and gave chase along Highway 63 and Highway 77.
LCO Police assisted by placing tire deflation devices at the intersection of Highway 77 and County Road K.
The vehicle came to a stop near Kreyer Lane and after an hour and a half standoff, the suspect was taken into custody.
Charges include first degree recklessly endangering safety, terroristic threats, a felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing an officer and bail jumping
