ASHLAND, WI (KDAL) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is assisting in an investigation regarding oil contaminated soil discovered by a contractor south of Ashland.
The suspected contamination was along Enbridge Energy’s Line 5 pipeline near the Old Airport Road and Holmes Road.
Enbridge told the DNR they believe the contamination was from a past discharge and not an ongoing release.
Enbridge has excavated and stockpiled the soil in question and tested the pipeline for any leaks.
The line was shut down and pressure slowly increased to identify any leaks. The line is now up to full pressure with no sign of a leak or alarm.
The investigation is ongoing and no further details are currently available.
