UNDATED (KDAL) – The American Academy of Pediatrics has some tips to keep in mind as kids head out to do some trick or treating Monday night.
They advise parents to accompany younger children and older kids should stick to a specific route and only stop at well lighted and familiar homes in the neighborhood.
Cross streets only at crosswalks or other designated areas, wear costumes that are bright or reflective and short enough to keep from tripping.
Wait until you’re home to eat any of the treats so they can properly be sorted and inspected. Any spoiled or unwrapped items should be discarded.
Motorists need to slow down and be especially vigilant for kids and avoid any distractions.
