SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Catholic Diocese of Superior has released a list of clergy who have had substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.
The list is the result of three separate clergy file reviews including one from a private independent security consulting firm.
In a press release from the Diocese, Bishop James Powers acknowledges the sinful harms of the past and apologizes on behalf of the church. He says they have learned from the past and are doing everything in they can to never repeat the abuse.
Since the Diocese was established in 1905, 23 priests have had abuse allegations made against them. Of that number, 20 are deceased and no priest on the list is currently active in ministry.
The Superior Diocese has 103 parishes and covers much of northern Wisconsin. The complete abusive clergy list can be found online at www.catholicdos.org/abusive-clergy-list.
