DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Crews from Minnesota Power and Superior Water Light and Power are in Illinois to help restore power outages following a storm on Monday.
Thousands remain without power after winds of more than 80 miles per hour downed trees, power lines and poles across central and southern Illinois.
Mutual aid has been a hallmark of the energy industry as Illinois crews came to Minnesota to help restore electricity after a storm left Duluth and the region without power in 2016.
The manager of operations at Minnesota Power says the pandemic is making mutual aid responses more challenging but feels they are prepared with safety and health guidelines in place.
