DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – While swimming Wednesday afternoon in the Lester River, two teens were swept down the river by the rushing water.
The 13 and 14 year olds were able to swim to a small island where firefighters rescued them using a series of ropes, ladders and slings.
The rescue took about an hour and there were no injuries in the incident.
The Duluth Fire Department encourages the public to stay away from rivers this spring that are swollen and running fast due to the large amounts of melting snow.
