DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A strong low pressure system could bring moderate rain and gale force winds to the region on Friday.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Lakeshore Flood Watch for the Canal Park and Bayfront area from Friday morning through late Friday night.
High water levels, prolonged gale force winds and waves of 10 to 15 feet could mean coastal flooding in the Twin Ports area.
A Small Craft Advisory will be in effect from 10 a-m Thursday through Friday evening for Silver Bay to Duluth and Port Wing. There is also a Gale Watch posted for western Lake Superior on Friday.
Moderate rain will lead to rainfall totals in excess of an inch along and south of a Hinckley to Hayward line and lesser amounts to the north.
There is a slight chance of rain showers Saturday morning and partly cloudy skies return on Sunday
UPDATE: The National Weather Service has cancelled the Lakeshore flood watch due to lower than expected wave heights and the Gale Watch has been upgraded to a Gale Warning for western Lake Superior.
