DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Fire Department was called to an apartment building at 1232 East 1st Street on Sunday morning on reports of a fire and explosions.
After evacuating a portion of the building, they found a fire in a kitchen of one of the apartments which was quickly extinguished.
Fire damage was confined to the one apartment but smoke and water damage extended to several apartments in that section of the building.
Two cats died from smoke inhalation in the second level of the structure but there were no human injuries.
The explosions were caused by several aerosol cans that were in the kitchen during the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office.
