SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – Superior firefighters were called to an area of Wisconsin Point about 4:30 Thursday on reports of a fire.
They arrived to find a sizeable wind driven fire along the beach area between Schafer Beach and Wisconsin Point Lot #1.
Crews were challenged in fighting the blaze due to the remote location, limited access and strong winds.
After several hours the fire, that burned about three quarters of an acre, was extinguished.
There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Fire Department reminds those that use recreational camp fires to be mindful of the current weather conditions and make sure the fire is completely out before leaving the area.
