DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A project that would replace and relocate the air traffic control tower at Duluth International Airport has received a 10 million dollar grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.
It is the 5th largest grant in their Airport Terminal Program during the current cycle.
The Duluth Airport is still looking for state funding and other grants to complete the 66 million dollar project.
The current tower was constructed in the 1950’s and is the third oldest in the country.
A replacement control tower would boost efficiency and safety for the airport that coordinates over 67,000 arrivals and departures each year.
