SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Bong Veterans Historical Center will host a special flag raising ceremony by the American Legion Post 435 on Thursday at noon.
The event is in memory of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when allied forces landed on the French coast at Normandy.
The Bong Center in Superior is also announcing their participation in the Blue Star Museum program that offers free admission to active duty military personnel and their families from Armed Forces Day, the 3rd Saturday in May, to Labor Day each year.
The Bong Veterans Historical Center is named in honor of Richard I. Bong, America’s highest scoring air ace during World War Two.
The museum, near the entrance to Barker’s Island, features a wide array of exhibits that highlight the contributions and experiences of veterans from various conflicts.
