DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Good Samaritans helped save the lives of two people who were involved in separate water emergencies over the weekend.
Late Friday afternoon, first responders were called to Lake Superior off Park Point for an unresponsive man in the water.
A good Samaritan and the on-duty lifeguards were able to bring the 38 year old man to shore and started life saving measures.
The man, from Mountain Iron, was stabilized and taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in serious condition.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says it appears that alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident.
On Saturday evening, deputies were dispatched to Caribou Lake in Canosia Township on reports of a 64 year old Esko man who was thrown from a jet ski that had flipped over.
The man was not wearing a life jacket and was struggling to stay above water.
A good Samaritan, on his jet ski, saw the man and was able to pull him from the water and get him to shore where he lost consciousness.
The man was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Duluth and was said to be in stable condition at the time.
