DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – On Friday morning, Duluth Police responded to the Myers-Wilkins Elementary School on reports that a vehicle had crashed into the building.
The initial investigation showed that the vehicle with two occupants was traveling downbound on North 8th Avenue East when it ran a stop sign, proceeded through the intersection, went down an embankment and crashed into the exterior of the school gymnasium.
The building sustained significant damage but there were no students or staff in the gym at the time.
The two people in the vehicle were taken by ambulance to local hospital in unknown condition.
The school district is examining the stability of the gym which will be closed for the time being.
