DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth has welcomed twin cotton-top tamarins that were born on September 15th.
The new infants join two other siblings and their parents in the Primate Conservation Center where the family is available for viewing from noon to 2 p-m each day.
Cotton-top tamarins are a critically endangered species and part of the Species Survival Plan where breeding programs at zoos help to increase their population.
In the wild, their primary habitat is restricted to northern Columbia where deforestation poses a significant threat.
