(Reuters) – Kirk strengthened into a category 4 major hurricane and large swells could reach the U.S. East Coast by Sunday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Thursday.
The hurricane was located about 1,655 miles (2655 km) southwest of the Azores, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 mph (215 km/h), the Miami based forecaster said.
