ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has activated burning restrictions for all of Lake and Cook Counties.
Campfires are allowed only in an established fire ring at a home, cabin, permanent campground or resort.
No burning of brush or yard waste is allowed and no permits will be issued or activated.
The burning restrictions on non-tribal lands in the counties will remain in effect until weather or conditions indicate a significant reduction in fire danger.
Following one of the warmest and driest Septembers on record, the risk of wildfires has continued to increase.
There is little precipitation in the extended forecast so the fire danger is likely to remain high.
