DULUTH, MN (Northern News Now) – The steps in front of the Duluth city hall were packed Wednesday with a new group that believes everyone in Duluth deserves a stable and comfortable place to live.
The Duluth Tenant Union was formed to deal with issues people are facing as renters. Organizer Dyanna Grondahl says her experiences as a renter inspired her to fight to find solutions.
Among those at City Hall for the public launch of the union was State Representative Liish Kozlowski who was one of the five members on a July Zoom call that kick-started the union.
The union is focused on the affordability, livability, and availability of housing in the city.
Multiple speakers at the event shared stories of the trouble of finding a place, mistreatment by landlords, and terrible living conditions.
The union is looking to find community-led solutions to the problems the city is facing and is inviting everybody to attend their next meeting on Wednesday, November 6th at 7 p.m. in the Minnesota Take Action Office.
