DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The traditional start to the holiday season in the Northland is the Christmas City of the North Parade.
The 66th annual parade begins Friday at 6:30 p-m from Fitger’s at 6th Avenue East and continues along Superior Street to 4th Avenue West in downtown Duluth.
The organizers of the parade, Northern News Now, says a record 85 units are entered in this year’s event.
There will be some road closures and other traffic issues before and during the parade in the downtown area. Duluth Police urge drivers to use caution and remain alert for pedestrians and to be aware of the no parking signs.
Free parking will be available starting at 5:30 p-m in most of the downtown parking ramps and meters.
Parade units will line up on London Road between 10th and 14th Avenues East. That portion of London Road will close starting at 4 p-m and the Superior Street parade route closes to traffic around 5:30.
Marked detours will be in place and traffic is expected to return to normal by about 8:30 p-m.
The parade will also be televised on Northern News Now and streamed on their website.
