DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Duluth based Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Officer Andy Schmidt had been named the 2024 Conservation Officer of the Year.
Schmidt who has been a conservation officer since 2008 has spent his entire career in northeast Minnesota and was previously a State Patrol Trooper.
The award, recognizing outstanding performance, was presented this week during the annual celebration at Camp Ripley by DNR Enforcement Division Director, Colonel Rodmen Smith.
Schmidt was also named the Minnesota Wildlife Officer of the Year by the Shikar Safari Club International.
He was recently promoted to District Supervisor.
