UNDATED (KDAL) – The firearms deer season in Minnesota begins a half hour before sunrise on Saturday and the Department of Natural Resources is expecting nearly a half million hunters to participate.
Hunters are advised to make a deer hunting plan this year for buying a license, where to hunt and where deer processing is available.
The DNR says the deer population has increased in much of the state so there should be more opportunities to harvest a deer this year.
Last season, 31 percent of hunters got a deer with 70 percent of those in the first three or four days of the season.
Deer hunting in Minnesota has about a 725 million dollar economic impact on the state.
