DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Duluth Mayor Emily Larson honored National Service members and other community volunteers on Tuesday as part of National Volunteer Week.
National Service is often referred to as AmeriCorps which engages millions of volunteers at more than 50 thousand locations around the country.
Among those honored at the City Hall event were foster grandparents and senior companions, the Conservation Corps, Preservation Corps and the Minnesota Alliance with Youth.
Mayor Larson says they are honoring those who give of their time to tutor and mentor youth, support food banks and shelters, restore parks and public lands and manage community volunteers.
