DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A group of local organizations, led by the Twin Ports Trafficking Task Force, will kick off Trafficking Awareness Month on Monday.
A special event will be held at noon in the Robert Powless Cultural Center at 2nd Avenue West and 2nd Street in Duluth.
It begins with a Red Shawl Ceremony to honor trafficking victims followed by remarks from Duluth Mayor Emily Larson and speakers from PAVSA and the Sex Trafficking Task Force.
The focus of anti-trafficking efforts in the Twin Ports this year will be on training and identifying signs of trafficking to those in the community who might interact with victims.
Those individuals could then report suspicious activity to authorities and guide victims to available resources.
