DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Police Department is holding a memorial service for the K-9 Haas on Friday at the DECC.
Haas died after being wounded in the line of duty on January 13 as he responded with his handler to a domestic assault with a weapon call in Duluth. His handler, Officer Aaron Haller was wounded in the incident.
During his two years as a police dog, Haas showed outstanding tracking skills and narcotics detection. At the USPCA regional trials, Haas placed first in criminal apprehension in a field of more than a hundred K-9 competitors.
The service is being held at 4 p-m in the Harborside Ballroom with doors opening at 3. The event is free and open to the public and parking at the DECC is also free.
It should be noted that the DECC is a pet-free zone so dogs should be left at home.
