DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The 24th annual Kolar Toyota ALS Walleye Fishing tournament will be held this Saturday on Island Lake.
The tournament is hosted by former Minnesota Twins world champion Kent Hrbek, UMD hockey legend Jim Johnson, and Minnesota Wild assistant coach Darby Hendrickson.
Over the tournament’s previous 23 years, the event has raised more than three million dollars to fight Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter provides support and services free of charge to individuals living with ALS. Services include durable medical equipment, communication devices and respite care for full-time family caregivers.
Kolar Toyota became title sponsor of the event in 2007 and the dealership is actively involved with the year-round planning of the tournament.
Event check-in starts Friday at UMD’s Ward Wells Field House. The fishing tournament starts at 7am on Saturday and the lunch at weigh-in will be at Hideaway Recreation Area.
The post-tournament dinner, program and live and silent auction will also be held at the Ward Wells Field House.
Tickets are $10 dollars for the general public.
