UNDATED (KDAL) – The City of Duluth and the Duluth Indigenous Peoples Day Commission is holding a public celebration Monday on the steps of City Hall. Hand drummers will welcome guests at noon followed by several speakers including Mayor Emily Larson.
The group will then walk to Gichi-ode’ Aikiing park where a round of dance will be held.
The University of Wisconsin-Superior is also holding a celebration for Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday.
A program will be held at the Medicine Wheel and Community Gathering Area in the courtyard near the Yellowjacket Union at 4:30 p-m.
In the event of inclement weather, activities will move inside to the Yellowjacket Union’s atrium.
The Woodland Sky Native American Dance Group will perform at Old Main’s Thorpe Langley Auditorium at 5:30. Both programs are free and open to the entire community.
