DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The 2020 Twin Ports shipping season got underway over the weekend as the “Burns Harbor” became the first laker to depart the Port of Duluth-Superior.
The ship left the Superior Entry Sunday morning bound for Indiana with a load of iron ore.
The “Burns Harbor” was also the last commercial vessel into the ports on January 16th which wrapped up the 2019 season.
The “Honorable James Oberstar” also left the Duluth harbor on Monday heading to Two Harbors.
The Soo Locks, connecting Lake Superior to the rest of the Great Lakes, will open at 12:01 a-m Wednesday.
