DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The 25th annual Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament will have a unique look to it this year. The tournament takes place Saturday. Organizers have set a goal of raising over $250,000 to help support individuals living with ALS.
In the previous 24 years of the event, over $3.4 million has been raised to provide critical support and services for individuals living with ALS as well as funding research efforts to find a cause and cure for the disease.
Event organizers have altered logistics, rules and fish species this year due to recommended social distancing guidelines set by the Minnesota Department of Health and MN DNR.
Anglers are asked to fish on a lake or river near their homes, all while practicing social distancing at the launches and on the bodies of water. Operating as a Catch-Photo-Release tournament format using a digital entry fish scoring app, winners will be determined.
Anglers will drop their lines for walleye, bass, northern and crappie anytime between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm on May 30th on a lake near their homes. Winners in each category will be announced live on Facebook at 6:00 pm. Participants will be eligible for random prizes valued over $10,000 regardless of finish.
