MADISON, WI (KDAL) – A Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources project that collects trail camera photos from around the state has reached quite an impressive milestone.
Volunteers have now collected 50 million photos since the program started in 2016.
The data from all the photos helps the DNR to understand where certain animal populations are in the state and to make important wildlife management decisions.
The “Snapshot Wisconsin” program receives about 45 thousand photos every day from 21 hundred trail cameras.
An interactive map has been created using some of the favorite photos from across the state.
