UNDATED (KDAL) – In February, Lake Superior levels dropped by 1.6 inches but remain 7.5 inches above the long term average.
The International Lake Superior Board of Control says at the beginning of March the lake is 5.5 inches below the level of a year ago.
The seasonal decline is expected to continue in March but the risk of high water impacts will remain.
Coastal damage is possible during periods of strong winds and high waves.
The Great Lakes shipping season is due to begin with the opening of the Soo Locks on March 25th.
