GNESEN TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – Two juveniles were injured when a side by side UTV flipped over on Boulder Lake Sunday afternoon.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department says the 12 and 6 year old boys were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth for treatment of injuries that included a broken bone and head laceration.
Neither of the victims were wearing helmets or safety belts at the time of the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging operators to exercise caution when riding on frozen waterways as ice conditions are deteriorating.
They also remind the public that all passengers and operators of ATV’s under 18 are required to wear a DOT approved helmet and use safety belts, when equipped, at all times when on public land, water or roads.
