UNDATED (KDAL) – Organizers say about a thousand people gathered Monday at the site of the Enbridge Line 3 construction project near the headwaters of the Mississippi River.
The protesters were calling on President Biden to stop the construction of the oil pipeline across northern Minnesota to protect the water and land while honoring Anishinaabe treaties.
Other protesters including celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Catherine Keener and Rosanna Arquette were at an Enbridge pumping station nearby with some blocking the entrance and locking themselves to equipment.
Talking with CBS-3 in Duluth, Enbridge spokespeople say the new line is made from stronger steel and will better protect the environment. They also cited a long and extensive environmental review of the project
