DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Among the highlights of this year’s Grandma’s Marathon is the return of three former champions and an American mile record holder.
2019 defending men’s champ Boniface Kongin will be back and women’s champ Sarah Kiptoo will try to become a three time winner of the marathon.
Also in the women’s elite field this year is the 2013 winner, Pasca Meyers.
Running his first marathon will be former Olympian and the American record holder for the mile, Alan Webb. Now an assistant cross country coach at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, Webb has heard good things about Duluth and is selecting Grandma’s for his first marathon run.
He finished his first half marathon last month in Memphis in 4th place and he still holds the American record in the mile run with a time of 3:46.91.
The 2021 Grandma’s Marathon will be run on Saturday, June 19th from near Two Harbors to Duluth.
