DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The new Essentia-St. Mary’s Hospital building, now under construction, will feature a helipad on the roof of the structure.
The new helipad is designed to improve patient care and swiftly move them to the emergency department for treatment.
A high speed elevator at the helipad level will transport patients directly to the emergency room without the need to move through public areas.
The roof top location is large enough to accommodate multiple helicopters and provides a cleaner space for the choppers to fly through.
There will also be a patient care space on the helipad to stabilize patients before entering the hospital.
The 900 million dollar hospital project is expected to be complete by the fall of 2023.
