DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Officers from the Minnesota State Patrol, Duluth Police and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office were recognized for their work to remove impaired drivers from area roads.
At a ceremony Thursday State Patrol Trooper Jacob Christopherson, Duluth Police Officer Todd Simmons and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Sobczak were presented with “Hat Trick” hockey sticks.
The award was for stopping three drunk drivers in a single shift.
Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken says enforcing DWI laws and getting impaired drivers off the roads is a priority for officers.
Stopping drunk drivers potentially saves their life and the lives of others. Nationally, 28 people die each day in drunk driving related crashes.
