DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – March is Minnesota Food Share Month and brings in food and funding for the state’s 300 food shelves.
Donated money and food during March will be matched proportionately by the Food Share program.
Food shelves in the Duluth area includes the Salvation Army which includes the state’s only Medical Food Shelf which supplies foods needed for special diets such as gluten free or sugar free.
Donations to the Duluth Salvation Army can be made at DuluthSA.org or in person at 215 S. 27th Avenue West.
Menards in West Duluth is also accepting food donations through the month for the Salvation Army.
Donations can also be made at the CHUM Food Shelf and the 2nd Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.
Essentia Health has made a large donation to CHUM Food Shelf to kick off Minnesota Food Share month. The health system donated 12-thousand dollars to the nonprofit on Tuesday. The money comes from part of the hospital’s operating costs that goes into community health programs.
