ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The May unemployment rate in Minnesota has dropped to 2 percent, a new record low since tracking began in 1976.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) says the decline is due to people moving from unemployment to employment.
Nationally, the unemployment rate stayed the same at 3.6 percent.
DEED Commissioner Steve Grove says Minnesota is on a course to continue adding jobs if employers can find the workers to fill them.
In the Duluth-Superior Metropolitan Statistical Area, the over the year employment change was up 2.8 percent.
