DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department and other first responders were called to the Island Lake Inn on the Rice Lake Road for reports that a vehicle had crashed into the building.
The vehicle, driven by a 36 year old man from Tower, broke through the wall and ended up inside the structure.
Deputies say the driver had fallen asleep on his way to Duluth about 6:50 a-m Wednesday and left the roadway.
He ended up with just minor injuries and damage estimates to the structure have not been determined.
According to a Facebook post, the Island Inn will be closed for cleanup and repairs. They hope to reopen in some capacity by the 4th of July.
