DULUTH, MN (CBS-3) – After eleven years and a failed attempt, Duluth Public Schools announced Monday they have reached a new agreement to sell old Central High School for $8 million.
The purchase agreement was made during a special school board meeting.
They plan to sell the property on the top of the hill to Chester Creek View, LLC.
There was no immediate word on their plans for the property and the purchase agreement is contingent on the demolition of the Central High School building.
The Duluth School Board approved a bid of $810,000 for the demolition that will take place this fall.
The school district also plans to construct some of its transportation facilities on the piece of the property that they retained.
The Duluth School District previously reached an agreement for the property earlier this year, but in March, announced the sale fell through.
The building has been empty since 2011 when the Duluth School District closed Central and consolidated into two high schools.
