KDAL, UMD Extend Radio Partnership

On Monday, Midwest Communications and the University of Minnesota Duluth announced a multi-year extension of their radio rights agreement. The extension will keep KDAL as the primary home of UMD football and hockey through the 2027-28 season.

“We are excited to extend our partnership with Midwest Communications,” said UMD associate athletic director for external relations Brian Nystrom. “We look forward to expanding the reach of our programs across Bulldog Country as well as online. The coverage of our programs and student-athletes is essential to our success.”

Midwest Communications has been the radio home of University of Minnesota Duluth athletics since 2017 and the Duluth-based station will continue to carry the Bulldogs for the foreseeable future. Bulldog games will primarily air on KDAL-AM 610 and KDAL-FM 103.9 under the terms of the current agreement. Games are also streamed online at kdal610.com and via KDAL’s free mobile app. KDAL-AM 610 has a long and rich history with UMD Athletics, having previously been the radio home of Bulldog men’s hockey for 49 seasons (1960-2009).

All UMD football and men’s hockey home/away games will be carried. Midwest Communications will continue to air select UMD women’s hockey games as part of this extension. Select football and men’s hockey games will air on KTCO 98.9FM due to broadcast conflicts. All games will be streamed at kdal610.com and through the KDAL mobile app.

During the 2021-22 season, the Bulldogs saw a record number of games broadcast on Midwest Communications, including the women’s NCAA championship game.
