HERMANTOWN, MN (KDAL) – A small plane crashed into a house in Hermantown Saturday night killing all three people on board the aircraft.
According to Hermantown Police, the Cessna 172 plane crashed into the 2nd story of a house in the 5100 block of Arrowhead Road just before midnight and ended up in the backyard of the property.
The two occupants of the house, about a mile and half south of the Duluth Airport, were not injured.
The victims of the crash were identified as passengers 32 year old Alyssa Schmidt of St. Paul and 31 year old Matthew Schmidt of Burnsville and the pilot, 32 year old Tyler Fretland of Burnsville.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the crash.
