DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – As much of the Northland is digging out from a foot of wind whipped snow over the weekend, forecasters are expecting yet another winter storm later this week.
Travel was difficult around the region from late Saturday afternoon through Sunday night with snow covered roads and strong off-lake winds that reduced visibility and created huge drifts.
Winds gusted to 55 miles per hour at Sky Harbor Airport Sunday afternoon.
Plowing was mostly limited to keeping main roads open while crews will continue clearing residential streets and alleys on Monday.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth recorded 12.5 inches of snow at its airport location through Sunday night and is keeping an eye on another developing storm system that could impact the area on Thursday and Friday.
As of Monday morning the seasonal snowfall in Duluth has reached 116.4 inches.
