DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued Winter Storm Watches for a wide area of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin, including the Twin Ports, for Thursday through Friday.
This latest storm is expected to begin with a chance of rain and freezing rain Wednesday night, changing to snow on Thursday.
The Twin Ports could see accumulations of 6 to 12 inches of snow and higher amounts are likely along the north and south shores of Lake Superior.
This storm will also feature strong winds and travel across the region will be difficult with blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility.
Gale Warnings are up for western Lake Superior with winds gusting to 50 knots and waves of 14 to 19 feet.
UPDATE: Winter Storm Warning from 10 a-m Thursday to 1 p-m Friday. Rain and freezing rain Thursday morning will change to snow in the afternoon. Snow totals in the Twin Ports area have been revised downward to 4-8 inches. North shore and south shore totals may still reach 10 to 14 inches.
