DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Most of northern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin has a Winter Storm Watch posted for Tuesday morning through Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth says blizzard conditions are possible on Tuesday afternoon and evening with snow and winds gusting as high as 65 miles per hour near Lake Superior.
Tree damage and power outages are possible and travel could be nearly impossible in white-out conditions.
Snow accumulations in the Duluth area will be 4 to 7 inches but 6 to 14 inches is possible further north and along the higher terrain of the North Shore.
The snow will later be mixed with sleet and freezing rain with some ice accumulation and blowing snow through Wednesday night.
A Storm Warning is in effect for western Lake Superior with the strong winds creating 18 to 23 foot waves.
