UNDATED (KDAL) – House fires in Gnesen Township and near Makinen Township over the holiday weekend has sent several people to hospitals with burns.
On Sunday afternoon firefighters were called to the 4300 block of Three Lakes Road in Gnesen Township and found the structure fully engulfed in fire.
A 70 year old man was taken by ambulance to a Duluth hospital for treatment of burns to his arms and back.
The house was a total loss and the cause of the fire is being investigated but authorities say it did not look suspicious in nature.
The second fire was reported around 4 a-m on Monday in an unorganized township in the area of Makinen Township, southeast of Eveleth.
When firefighters arrived, all the occupants were out of the house and accounted for.
Two adults had severe burns, one was airlifted to a Duluth hospital and the other was airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center’s burn unit.
Two others had less serious burns and were taken by private vehicles to hospitals for treatment.
The home was a total loss and the cause is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department.
