CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a scamming complaint that occurred in Clinton Township on Saturday.
An individual reported that she was contacted by someone claiming to be a Deputy Sheriff. The suspect used the names of active and former Sheriff Office members.
The scammer told the victim that they had missed a court date and would need to meet somewhere to sign a document.
The Sheriff’s Department say that is not a common practice and the public should not meet anyone claiming to be law enforcement who need documents signed.
Anyone receiving such a call should contact the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department.
