DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Even though the area is enjoying warmer than normal weather to start the month, residential customers of Minnesota Power are reminded the cold weather rule is now in effect.
The state statute keeps utilities from cutting off a primary heating source between October 1st and April 30th providing a payment plan has been set up.
Customers of Minnesota Power can contact them for payment plan options (800-228-4966).
There is also a state energy assistance program available for those needing help paying their heating bills. Online applications for assistance can be found at mn.gov/home.
The power company also reminds customers to beware of scam calls that demand immediate payment of bills asking for credit or debit card numbers under threats of disconnection.
