UNDATED (KDAL) – A nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts will be conducted on Wednesday.
The test message will be broadcast on radio and TV stations and sent to all cellular phones and other devices at approximately 1:20 p-m.
The purpose of the test, being conducted by FEMA and the FCC, is to ensure that these systems will continue to be an effective way to warn the public about emergencies.
The message, being sent to cell phones, will read “this is a test of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action Is needed.”
The alert will be accompanied by a unique tone and vibration.
