UPDATED INFORMATION:
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has delayed the closing of the Duluth bound side of the I-535 Blatnik Bridge to Monday, October 30th at 4 a-m.
This closure will be in place for approximately one week as part of the Twin Ports Interchange project.
Originally scheduled to begin Oct. 19, timing of this closure has been changed to allow for the Friday, Oct. 27, reopening of northbound and southbound I-35 to two lanes of traffic in each direction, thus minimizing concurrent traffic restrictions between Duluth and Superior.
DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth bound side of the Blatnik Bridge will be closing to traffic starting at 6 a-m on Thursday.
The closure is part of the reconstruction of the I-535 Garfield Avenue exit and will be in effect for 2 to 4 weeks.
During that time, motorists in Superior will need to use the Bong Bridge to get to Duluth.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says traffic headed toward Superior on the Blatnik Bridge from Garfield Avenue will not be affected at this time.
Once complete, northbound traffic will be re-opening with single lane direct access to northbound I-35.
